What is it with some people on this list that feel an artist is just putting
out records to fuck with their audience to see if they'll buy/like something
that's intended as a piss-take.
This came up in the past with aphex's windowlicker -- was it just a
piss-take? Was he fucking with the 1000 people on the idm list?
Who the hell is in their right mind to think that artists such as autechre
or aphex (to cite recent examples) give a fuck what people on this list
think? The music is not made just for us, its made for everybody.
Whether or not you enjoy it is the important thing, and if you don't like
Confield, consider this: isn't it just a bit paranoid to think that autechre
is just "having a laugh at everyone who thinks this record is cool" (to
quote teardropb) ?
I don't think they'd release a record they weren't happy with. What a waste
of time and money it would be to do so.
